Chigusa — Part one (2021)
This illustration was submitted to Gallery1988’s Crazy4Cult competition, which revolved around visually responding to classic cult films. I selected Battle Royale as one of my prompts, and produced two compositions inspired by a scene in which Takako Chigusa is provoked into combat. The first is a highly saturated illustration intended to capture the intensity of the scene.

This illustration was also submitted to Gallery1988’s Crazy4Cult competition, again responding to the cult film Battle Royale as a prompt. The second piece pays homage to Battle Royale’s Japanese origins by using stylisation and techniques inspired by manga comics.
